This Sabbath was one of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance as our fellowship gathered during America’s 250th anniversary celebration. Throughout the day we considered both Scripture and history, examining what it means to pursue liberty under God while remembering our responsibility to faithfully pass His truth to future generations.

Whether studying biblical principles surrounding government and obedience, reflecting on God’s unfailing promises, or discussing the spiritual heritage of our nation, one message echoed throughout the day:

God remains faithful, and His people are called to remain faithful to Him.

📖 Morning Bible Study

Did the Colonists Violate Romans 13?

Michael Deering led a thoughtful discussion examining the relationship between civil government and obedience to God.

The study explored passages including Romans 13, Psalm 82, Galatians 5:1, and Daniel 2:21, asking how believers should understand governmental authority while remaining obedient to God above all else.

Historical writings from America’s founding era—including quotations from Patrick Henry, William Penn, Thomas Jefferson, and others—were discussed alongside Scripture. The conversation centered on how many of the Founding Fathers viewed liberty as a gift from God and emphasized that true freedom carries both responsibility and accountability before Him.

The group reflected on the importance of seeking justice, remembering God’s sovereignty over earthly kingdoms, and recognizing that believers are ultimately called to stand faithfully with God even during difficult times.

The study encouraged everyone to continue searching the Scriptures carefully while remembering that genuine liberty begins with obedience to God.

Gary Hall — “No Matter What Happens Next”

Scripture: Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Gary reminded us that this verse is more than encouragement—it is a promise from God Himself.

Throughout Scripture we see God’s faithfulness displayed in the lives of Abraham, David, and ultimately Jesus Christ. God’s promises never fail because His character never changes.

Gary shared a personal testimony about memorizing Isaiah 41:10 as a six-year-old while walking home from church. Decades later, he returned to that very place where he first committed his life to Christ. Although life has included failures and lessons along the way, that promise has remained constant:

God is still holding His people in His righteous right hand.

No matter what circumstances may come, His Word remains true.

Main Message

Celebrating 250 Years as a Nation

Michael Deering’s message reflected on the significance of America’s 250th anniversary by examining the relationship between biblical principles, liberty, and national history.

The congregation considered the events leading up to the Declaration of Independence and the generations of spiritual awakening that influenced many early American communities. Discussion emphasized that lasting freedom requires more than political systems—it requires a people committed to righteousness and moral responsibility.

The discussion also reflected on how the church has historically influenced culture through biblical teaching and encouraged believers today to continue living as faithful witnesses of Christ within their communities.

Rather than merely celebrating history, the congregation was challenged to ask:

What values are we preserving?
Are we faithfully teaching God’s Word to the next generation?
How do we remain obedient to Christ regardless of cultural pressures?

The message concluded by pointing everyone back to Christ as the true source of liberty and reminding us that genuine freedom is always found in faithful obedience to God.

The children learned about the freedom we have in Jesus Christ and were encouraged to understand that true freedom comes through following Him. 2 Corinthians 3:17 ” Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
