When the Anointed Cries to God

“When we cry to God, the Lifter of our Head, our perspective changes.”

Yesterday’s Sabbath at The Body of Christ Fellowship at Vaughn’s Chapel was a day of worship, encouragement, and reflection as we continued our study through the Psalms. The service began with fellowship and Bible study led by Skip Martin, who guided the congregation through an overview of the Gospels and their unified witness to the Messiah.

🎵 Worship in Song

Our worship time lifted hearts and minds toward God through these beloved hymns:

  • I’ll Fly Away
  • Goodness of God
  • How Great Thou Art

A special blessing was provided by LeighAnn and the children, who shared “Amazing Grace.” Their heartfelt presentation reminded us of the beauty of God’s mercy and the power of His grace in every season of life.

📖 Scripture Reflection

Sarah Brower shared the Scripture reading and reflection, helping prepare our hearts for the main message and setting the stage for a deeper look into the Psalms.

✨ Main Message: “The Anointed Cries to God”

Speaker: LeighAnn Ellison

LeighAnn’s message focused on a powerful truth found throughout the Psalms: when God’s people cry out to Him, their circumstances may not immediately change, but their perspective does.

Drawing from Psalms 3, 52, 57, 59, 60, and 142, LeighAnn explored how David and other faithful servants turned to God during life’s darkest moments. Whether facing enemies, discouragement, uncertainty, or overwhelming trials, the psalmists consistently found refuge in the One who lifts up the heads of His people.

Key Lessons from the Message

When Trials Bombard You

(Psalms 3, 52, 59)

Life can often feel overwhelming. The Psalms remind us that God remains our shield and protector even when circumstances seem stacked against us. Rather than being consumed by fear, we are invited to place our trust in Him.

When Despondency Comes

(Psalms 57, 142)

There are seasons when discouragement and loneliness seem to surround us. David experienced these emotions firsthand, yet he continually poured out his heart before God. Through prayer, he found hope and renewed strength.

When Doubts Assail You

(Psalm 60)

Questions and uncertainties arise in every believer’s walk. LeighAnn reminded us that doubt is not conquered by ignoring it, but by bringing it honestly before God and allowing His promises to anchor our faith.

The central message was simple yet profound: when we cry out to God, the Lifter of our Head, He changes how we see our circumstances and reminds us where our help truly comes from.

🌱 Closing Thoughts

The Psalms remind us that faith is not the absence of hardship—it is the confidence that God hears us in the midst of it. Whether we are facing trials, discouragement, or uncertainty, we serve a God who listens when His people cry out.

May we leave this Sabbath encouraged to bring every burden before Him, trusting that He is still the Lifter of our Head and our refuge in every season.

“But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the One who lifts up my head.” — Psalm 3:3
