Today at Vaughn’s Chapel, we gathered together in worship, reflection, and fellowship as we focused on the meaning and power of Pentecost. With 32 in attendance, hearts were lifted in praise as we remembered not only an event from Scripture, but the ongoing work of God’s Spirit among His people today.

Special music and offertory were provided by LeighAnn Ellison, adding a beautiful atmosphere of worship and reverence to the service. We were also blessed to welcome guests Sidney and Jonell.
Opening prayer was led by Devan Mounts, and the service closed in prayer by Everett Mounts.
Songs of Worship
Today’s worship music reflected themes of awakening, unity, and surrender to God:
- “Holy Spirit Song”
- “I Saw the Light”
- “Bridegroom”
- “Every Tribe”
- “Children of God”
- “Greater”
These songs reminded us that Pentecost is not only about the past — it is about God continuing to gather His people from every tribe, tongue, and nation into His family through the power of the Holy Spirit.
What Is Pentecost?
Pentecost is first introduced in the Old Testament as the Feast of Weeks, celebrated fifty days after Passover. It was a time of thanksgiving for harvest and provision. But in the New Testament, Pentecost became the moment when God poured out His Spirit upon believers after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus.
In Acts chapter 2, the disciples were gathered together in one place when suddenly a mighty rushing wind filled the house, and tongues like fire rested upon them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began proclaiming the mighty works of God.
This moment marked the birth of the early Church.
The Meaning Behind Pentecost
Pentecost reveals several powerful truths:
God Dwells With His People
In the Old Testament, God’s presence filled the tabernacle and temple. At Pentecost, His Spirit filled believers themselves. Through the Holy Spirit, God now dwells within His people.
The Gospel Is for Everyone
People from many nations heard the disciples speaking in their own languages. Pentecost shows that the message of salvation is for all people — every tribe, every language, every nation.
Power for Witness and Service
The disciples went from fearful and hidden to bold and courageous. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live faithfully, love deeply, and proclaim truth with boldness.
A New Harvest
Pentecost was once connected to the harvest season, and Acts 2 shows a spiritual harvest as thousands came to faith. God continues calling people into His Kingdom today.
Reflection From Today’s Service
As we reflected on Pentecost during today’s message and discussion led by Michael Deering, we were reminded that the same Spirit poured out in Acts is still moving today. Pentecost is not simply a historical event to remember — it is an invitation to live Spirit-filled lives marked by faith, unity, repentance, worship, and love.
In a world filled with division and uncertainty, Pentecost reminds us that God still calls His people together. He still restores hearts. He still empowers ordinary people for extraordinary purposes.
Scripture Focus
Acts 2:1−4
“When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place… And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Closing Thoughts
Today’s gathering was a beautiful reminder that the Church was never meant to operate without the presence of God’s Spirit. Pentecost calls us back to prayer, unity, repentance, and expectation.
May we continue walking as Spirit-filled people — worshiping together, encouraging one another, and sharing the hope of Messiah with the world around us.
Happy Sabbath from Vaughn’s Chapel. May the peace and presence of God be with you throughout the week ahead.
